Women told why they regret having children

From birth pain to learning a child how to live in this difficult world, being a mother is hard and ruthless work that completely changes a woman’s life.

And although talking about the difficulties of motherhood is still a taboo, to admit that you regret having brought children is generally beyond the limits.
But a recent study by sociologists has shown that there are quite a lot of such mothers. And since on the Internet you can talk about it openly and anonymously, many women write candid posts on even the page “I regret having got children” specially created in FB.

Here, for example, that one housewife, mother of 7-year-old and 4-year-old children, wrote.

“I love them, but I'm not happy. They took away all my freedom, I can't find a job, my husband hardly earns enough for us to go on vacation. I was a stewardess, free as a bird, before the birth of children. Now I just do endless household chores. ”

Another wrote about how hard it is for a 3-year-old daughter who sleeps very badly. One day she even got sick from stress after the child had slept only 2 hours.

«We have no life. My husband helps so much, but even he is close to frustrating. We have no relatives and friends. There is no support. What am I doing?"

“I loved my old life,” wrote another desperate mom. - My husband really wanted a child, and I put it off for so long, just knowing that this is not my vocation. In the end, I succumbed to his persuasion, thinking that I would get used to it.But I feel as if my beautiful world has been turned upside down.I still don't feel like mom. I miss my old life so much that sometimes it seems that I will just leave the house and leave my husband and son. ”

Other women noted how out of frustration passed on to the father of their child. One wrote how desperately she wanted a child, but then she realized that the difficulty was his joint upbringing when her husband became “an obsessive liar, insulting and controlling”.

“I still feel a rush of guilt because I regret that I became a mother. Not because I'm a bad mother, but because I don't want to be her. I cannot explain why I feel this way, but this is so. ”

As a professor of sociology at Wake Forest University, Robin Simon, who specializes in the influence of parenthood on the mental state, notes, such emotions are hard to recognize because of the social norms about the holiness of motherhood.

Public perception is such that the child is always happiness, but the reality is that this can be a real shock for the human psychic system. But it is quite normal to feel regret, stress, fatigue, boredom and confusion of feelings. It is even more important that a woman not be afraid to share such feelings with someone else, otherwise, if to contain them, it can turn into a real mental disorder - even more than just postpartum depression.
