The toy must match the age of the child. When buying a toy, check how old it is. If there is no indication of age, it is advisable for parents to refuse to purchase, no matter how harmless the toy may seem.

Consumer packaging always shows the age of children:

up to year (early);
from year to 3 years (yaselny);
from 3 to 6 years old (preschool);
from 6 to 10 years (junior school);
from 10 to 14 years old (middle school).

You can not buy a small child a toy that is designed for an older child. According to the law, children under 3 years old cannot buy toys that contain small parts. Toys that contain small parts can cause choking in children under 3 years old.

All toys or small parts with a diameter of less than 35 mm should not be accessible to children. Young children learn about the world through their senses - sight, smell, hearing,touch and, of course, taste! Any small object up to 35 mm easily passes into the child's airway, which can be fatal.
When buying a toy, check if it has small parts that the child can swallow and suffocate. For example, buttons, tearing eyes and mouths of dolls and bears, easily removable doll shoes, tinkers of rustling or small balls inside a toy.

test-cylinderYou can use a toilet paper roll to test your toys. Cut the roller almost in half and you have a test cylinder ready. Everything that easily passes and is placed in this volume is potentially dangerous for babies up to 3 years. Any small part that passes easily through the hole of the roller should not fall into the hands of children of this age.
Do not give your child balloons, and if given, do not leave him unattended. Some of the most dangerous items are deflated or cracked balloons, causing one-third of all childhood deaths associated with suffocation. At the same time, the biggest risk group is children up to 3 years old.
In addition to the sign "Age", the toy often indicates a specific safety requirement for operating the toy.For example, “Use under adult supervision,” “Wash with soapy water,” etc. In Ukraine, it complies with DSTU ISO 8124-1-2003.
